RPG players: You already know that a big part of what you do is improvising in character, and that players who are good at it can elevate a game from pretty fun to semi-legendary. But how do you get better at it? (I think you see where this is going.)
This three-hour workshop will walk you through the fundamentals of developing characters and playing them in unexpected real-time situations. If you struggle with character creation, this workshop is for you. But even if you’re someone who crafts characters in painstaking detail from the very beginning, we’ll explore tools that will help you to develop and extend your attributes based on what happens in gameplay.
This class distills all the character creation aspects of Mercury Improv’s Improv for Introverts class and leaves out all the irrelevant stuff, like how to create a situation (you’re already in a situation!) and how to move around onstage. ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY in D&D, improv, or any sort of performance: this workshop is for absolute beginners. It’s gonna be really fun and it’ll be even better if you’re part of it.
